New Building Codes Effective January 1, 2011

All new permit and plan review applications submitted after December 31, 2010 shall be required to comply with the following new state codes.

2010 California Fire Code

Counter Closure for Lunch - Effective October 1, 2010

New 2008 California Energy Efficiency Standards - Effective January 1, 2010

THE NEW 2008 CALIFORNIA ENERGY EFFICIENCY STANDARDS WENT INTO EFFECT JANUARY 1, 2010

The new 2008 Standards supersede the 2005 Standards. Projects that apply for a building permit on or after this date must comply with the 2008 Standards.

List of New Permits Issued - Now Available!

The Building Department now provides a list of weekly issued permits online. Customers can now use the "Permit Center" page of the Huntington Beach Building and Safety website to view and print a weekly list of newly issued building permits. Permit Fee Waiver for Energy Efficient Units

The Building Department has implemented a program which allows consumers to obtain permits for Residential Energy Efficient Units, at no cost. With this program, all permit fees associated with the energy efficient unit will be waived. Items which qualify for the fee waiver are listed below:

*High Efficiency HVAC with an AFUE greater than 90
*High Efficiency AC with a SEER 14 or higher
*Tankless Water Heaters with a minimum energy factor of 0.80
*Photovoltaic systemsHB Goes Green Logo
*Solar water heating systems (home or pool)
