ALARM PERMIT (no on-line option available)

An Alarm Permit is required if you maintain or have installed on any premises any alarm system that directly or indirectly signals the Huntington Beach Police Department.

  • Alarm system permits for businesses shall be renewed annually at $36.00.
  • Alarm system permits for residences shall be renewed annually at $36.00.
  • All permits are non-transferable.

When alarms are received by the Police Department which show a failure to comply with the requirements of this chapter, the Chief of Police may demand that the owner or lessee disconnect the alarm system until it is made to comply with such requirements.

(b) The owner or lessee of any alarm system which has caused any signal, message, or alarm to be transmitted to the Police Department and which is proved to be a false alarm, shall pay a false alarm prevention fee, established by resolution of the City Council, as follows:

(1) For false alarms in excess of two (2) received in a twelve (12) month period, the owner or lessee shall be assessed a fee for each such alarm and the fee shall be increased for each subsequent alarm received in a twelve (12) month period.

(2) Any false alarm indicating robbery is occurring (a violation of California Penal Code section 211)

PAYMENT
You may pay your bill by any of the following methods:

  • Mail: Make your check, cashier's check, and or money order payable to the City of Huntington Beach. Remit the payment along with the application to the City of Huntington Beach, ATTN: City Treasurer, P.O. Box 711, Huntington Beach, CA 92648-0711.
  • Walk-In: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Cashiers Window on the First Floor of City Hall, 2000 Main Street., Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
  • Drop Boxes: Drop your payment in a drop box and we will process your payment within 24 hours of receipt. Drop boxes are conveniently located on the Lobby Level of City Call and outside City Hall at the north east side of the building.
  • Online Payment: This new feature allows you to pay for false alarms only online. Alarm Permits must be paid in one of the three above options.  Please click here to pay now. You will need to input your customer number, your invoice number and the amount due in order to pay on-line.

.Important: Police Department will not dispatch until a permit application is received and processed.   It is also your responsibility to notify your alarm company of your Huntington Beach Police Department alarm permit number when you obtain it.
